בריטניה: בקרי הגבולות בנמלי תעופה ישבתו במשך 8 ימים בסוף החודש

איגוד השירותים הציבוריים בבריטניה (PCS) הודיע היום, כי עובדי בקרת הגבולות ב-6 נמלי תעופה גדולים בבריטניה ייצאו לשביתה במשך 8 ימים בתקופת החגים העמוסה של סוף השנה

כ-15,000 בקרי הגבולות בנמלי התעופה, החברים באיגוד השירותים הציבוריים בבריטניה PCS, הצביעו בעד שביתה עקב סכסוך על שכר ותנאי עבודה.

האיגוד הודיע היום, 7 בדצמבר, שהחברים ייצאו ל-8 ימי שביתה: בין ה-23-26 בדצמבר ושוב בין ה-28-31 בדצמבר.

השביתה תתקיים ב-6 נמלי תעופה בבריטניה: בירמינגהם, קרדיף, גטוויק, גלזגו, הית'רו (טרמינלים 2-5) ומנצ'סטר.

מארק סרווטקה, המזכיר הכללי של איגוד ה-PCS, אמר במסיבת עיתונאים בלונדון: "ניסינו במשך חודשים לנהל משא ומתן, אבל התעלמו מאיתנו. שום הצעה כספית לא הונחה על השולחן".

מזכ"ל האיגוד ציין כי 86.2% מחברי PCS הצביעו בעד השביתה כולל "כמה מהעובדים בשכר הנמוך ביותר בבריטניה".

נראה כי השביתה תגרום לעיכובים רבים של טיסות עקב התורים הארוכים בבידוק בנמלי התעופה, וייתכן שחברות התעופה תיאלצנה גם לבטל טיסות.

משרד הפנים הבריטי אמר כי השערים האלקטרוניים בנמלי התעופה יישארו פעילים לאורך כל ימי השביתה עבור בעלי דרכונים ביומטריים. הזכאים למעבר יהיו אזרחים בריטים או אזרחים של מדינה באיחוד האירופי, וכן אזרחי אוסטרליה, קנדה, איסלנד, יפן, ליכטנשטיין, ניו זילנד, נורבגיה, סינגפור, דרום קוריאה, שווייץ וארה"ב.
