מאות חדרים יתווספו בחוף הצפוני באילת.

ועדת המשנה לנושאים תכנוניים עקרוניים, המליצה בפני המועצה הארצית לתכנון ובניה לאשר תקדימית את הסרת הגבלת הגובה לבינוי מלונות בחוף הצפוני באילת. משמעות ההמלצה, כי יהיה ניתן לבנות לגובה של עד עשרים קומות במקום שמונה.

במסגרת ההחלטה שהתקבלה, תמ"א 13 תתוקן ותאפשר כעת בנייה של מלונות בסמוך לקו המים לגובה של 45 מטר ו-60, המשקף טווח שנע בין 12-20 קומות, במקום הגבלה של שמונה קומות בלבד.

רקע להחלטה: תמ״א 13 לחופי אילת אושרה ביולי 2005. התמ״א כללה מגבלת בינוי לגובה באזור המלונאות בחוף הצפוני בשל שדה התעופה שהיה פעיל. עם פתיחת שדה התעופה רמון וסגירת השדה בלב העיר, לטענת משרד התיירות מגבלת הגובה אינן רלוונטיות עוד. לאור הרצון לתמוך בהתחדשות וחיזוק המרקם התיירותי של המלונות בחוף הצפוני, נעתרה הוולנת״ע והחליטה להמליץ בפני המועצה הארצית לבטל את מגבלת גובה הבינוי הקיימת.
