רכבת אירופית מהירה נוספת: בין ונציה באיטליה ללובליאנה בירת סלובניה

למרות הגבול המשותף איטליה וסלובניה אינן מחוברות ברכבת ישירה, ובשנה הקרובה זה עומד להשתנות בעקבות בדיקת היתכנות

לאחר הפרסום על הרכבת המהירה בין פריס לברלין שיצאה לדרך ביום שני האחרון, מפעילת הרכבת האיטלקית Trenitalia מתכננת מסלול רכבת חדש חוצה גבולות, בין ונציה באיטליה ללובליאנה, בירת סלובניה השכנה.

ב-2021 נבדק מיזם לקו רכבת בין העיר טריאסטה בצפון מזרח איטליה לבירת סלובניה, אך התוכנית לא יצאה לפועל.

הקו החדש עשוי להתחיל לפעול באפריל 2024, ואתמול, ה-11 בדצמבר נערכה בדיקת היתכנות ראשונית.

רכבת מהירה יצאה ממסטרה בוונציה, לכיוון צפון לפורטוגרוארו ומונפלקונה. בתחנת הגבול של וילה אופיצ'ינה היא פגשה את צוות הרכבת הסלובנית כדי להמשיך בנסיעה ל-Sesana, עיירה במרחק 80 ק"מ דרומית מערבית ללובליאנה. בדיקות תפעוליות בוצעו גם ברשת הרכבות הסלובנית.

"נראה שהגיע הזמן לשיקום שירות חוצה גבולות בין שתי המדינות", ציינה חברת FS Italiane, חברת הרכבת הלאומית של איטליה, באתר האינטרנט שלה לקראת נסיעת המבחן.

הקו הסופי בין שתי המדינות השכנות עשוי להיות חיבור רכבת ישיר בין מילאנו ללובליאנה.
