מצרים: שיא של כ-15 מיליון תיירים בינלאומיים בשנת 2023

למרות שהמלחמה ברצועת עזה גרמה לירידה מהיעד הצפוי במספר התיירים, ברבעון האחרון הגיעו למדינה 3.6 מיליון תיירים. המדינה משקיעה רבות בחיזוק ענף התיירות, המהווה את המקור השלישי בגודלו להכנסה זרה

מאז 2010 מצרים ראתה מספר שיא של תיירים נכנסים בשנת 2023, שהגיע ל-14.906 מיליון.

שר התיירות והעתיקות המצרי, אחמד עיסא, חשף זאת בהצהרה לעיתונות.

ברבעון האחרון של 2023 היה המספר הגדול ביותר של תיירים נכנסים, 3.6 מיליון, למרות המלחמה המתנהלת ברצועת עזה.

הנתונים שוברי השיאים מהווים עלייה של 8% בהשוואה לרבעון המקביל אשתקד.

השר המצרי ציין כי למרות הישג השיא, חלה ירידה של 600,000 תיירים מהיעד הצפוי עקב המלחמה בעזה.

הגידול במספר התיירים נובע מכמה גורמים והשר עיסא הדגיש, כי מתבצעים מאמצים ממשלתיים להשלמת יעדי תיירות חדשים ולשיפור ושיפוץ כל אתרי התיירות.

הממשלה מעניקה, בין השאר, הקלות על קבלת ויזות תייר ודואגת להרחיב את הקיבולת בשירותי התעופה הבינלאומיים.

התיירות היא מגזר מרכזי התורם לתוצר המקומי הגולמי ולכלכלה של מצרים. תעשיית התיירות היא המקור השלישי בגודלו להכנסה זרה.

מתוך הכרה בכך, משרד התיירות והעתיקות הגביר את מאמציו להחיות את ענף התיירות, שסבל באופן משמעותי בעקבות מגפת הקורונה ומלחמת אוקראינה-רוסיה.

בין האמצעים הבולטים לאישוש התיירות: פתיחה מחדש של בית הכנסת בן עזרא בקהיר העתיקה, מוזיאון אמחותפ והמוזיאון היווני-רומי באלכסנדריה, פתיחת נמל התעופה הבינלאומי ספינקס ופתיחה הדרגתית של המוזיאון המצרי הגדול.

יתר על כן, בדרך מקהיר ועד מקדשי לוקסור וקרנק, מצויים יותר מ-120 אתרים ארכיאולוגיים והיסטוריים, וכולם עוברים הליכי שיפור ושיפוץ.
