משרדי הבריאות והחקלאות: הכנסת כלבים וחתולים לשטח מדינת ישראל ללא אישור ובצורה שאינה מוסדרת וחוקית, עלולה להוביל להפצת מחלות קשות. "בהעדר גדר בין עזה לישראל, כלבים ממשיכים לתוך ישראל. מספרם מוערך בכ-5,000"

משרדי הבריאות והחקלאות מבקשים מהציבור להימנע מהכנסת כלבים וחתולים משטחי הרשות הפלסטינית, מעזה ומגבול הצפון לשטח ישראל.

נמסר כי הכנסת כלבים וחתולים לשטח מדינת ישראל ללא אישור ובצורה שאינה מוסדרת וחוקית, עלולה להוביל להפצת מחלות בהן: כלבת, אכינוקוקוס (זניבן הכיס), לישמניה, עכברת, גרב (סקביאס) ועוד.

משרד הבריאות מבקש כי אם אדם נחשף, נשרט או ננשך ע"י חתול או כלב חשוד, יש לשטוף את מקום הנשיכה באופן מיידי במים וסבון, ולפנות ללא דיחוי ללשכת הבריאות הקרובה למקום מגוריו על מנת לשקול מתן טיפול מונע לאחר החשיפה. לאחר שעות העבודה ובמהלך סוף השבוע יש לפנות לחדר מיון בבית חולים.

משרד החקלאות קורא לציבור להגיע לכלביות רשויות מקומיות ועמותות למען בעלי חיים ולאמץ כלבים וחתולים על מנת להציל בעלי חיים ממוות או חיים בייסורים בכלוב, וכן על מנת לפנות מקום בכלביות. משרדי הבריאות והחקלאות ממליצים לאמץ כלבים וחתולים רק מעמותות מוסדרות, וזאת רק לאחר שעברו בדיקה רפואית מקיפה, טופלו וחוסנו כנגד מחלות.

במשרד החקלאות מציינים כי בהעדר גדר בין עזה לישראל, הכלבים ממשיכים לעבור לתוך ישראל. היקף אוכלוסיית הכלבים שחדרה לאזור מערב הנגב מוערך בכ-5,000 כלבים.
