קבלו את הערים ״הירוקות החדשות״ של אירופה: לימסול מתברגת לרשימה המכובדת

האיחוד האירופי הציג את 23 הערים שזכו ל"תו ירוק" לאחר שהציגו תוכנית לשיפור האקלים ואיכות הסביבה עד שנת 2030.

בנציבות האירופית אמרו כי התו המיוחד "מכיר בתוכניות של הערים". לצד ההכרה והכבוד, הערים יקבלו גם מימון להמשך פעילותן הירוקה. "הערים מראות לנו את הדרך לעתיד בריא וטוב יותר", אמרו בנציבות.

בין הערים שקיבלו את התו: לימסול בקפריסין וארבע ערים ביוון: יואנינה, קלמטה, קוזאני וסלוניקי.

עוד קיבלו את התו המכובד: ברצלונה, סביליה, ליסבון, פירנצה, מרסיי וליון.

מטרת הנציבות להגיע עד למאה ערים חכמות וירוקות ב-2030. לימסול זכתה כבר בעבר בתואר "העיר הירוקה של קפריסין", בין היתר בזכות מערכות החנייה והסעת ההמונים הציבורית, בשונה מלרנקה, ניקוסיה ופאפוס שלא זכו בתארים דומים.
