United Airlines תהיה הראשונה שתשתמש ב-SAF בשדה״ת בשיקגו שיהיה החמישי בו תרכוש החברה דלק SAF לשימוש תפעולי, שיפחית את פליטת גזי החממה בשיעור של עד 85%. "זה הזמן של החברות לעבוד יחד כדי לתמוך בצמיחת ה-SAF"

חברת התעופה United הפכה היום (31.7.24) לראשונה הרוכשת דלק תעופה בר-קיימא (SAF) לשימוש בנמל התעופה הבינלאומי או'הייר (ORD). זהו נמל התעופה החמישי שבו החברה רוכשת SAF לשימוש תפעולי אחרי לוס אנג'לס, סן פרנסיסקו, לונדון ואמסטרדם, שם כבר פועלת בין היתר גם Emirates עם דלק בר-קיימא.

יונייטד הייתה החברה הראשונה להציב יעד של אפס פליטת גזי חממה עד 2050. החברה רכשה עד עתה יותר דלק בר-קיימא מכל חברת תעופה אמריקאית בשנת 2023.

SAF הוא דלק סילוני אלטרנטיבי שיכול להפחית את פליטת גזי החממה בשיעור של עד 85% וניתן להשתמש בו ללא צורך בשינויים במערכות דלק או במנועי מטוסים.

"זה מה שקורה כשחדשנות, מנהיגות ומדיניות מתחברים יחדיו", אמר נשיא יונייטד ברט הארט, "בעוד שהשוק של SAF עדיין בחיתוליו, יש היום הזדמנות ענקית לחברות תעופה ולקובעי מדיניות לעבוד יחד כדי לתמוך בצמיחה המתמשכת דלק ה-SAF".
