שגריר חדש לישראל - באחת ממדינות המפתח באזורנו.

יוסי שלי, מנכ"ל משרד ראש הממשלה ולשעבר שגריר ישראל בברזיל, מונה לתפקיד שגריר ישראל באיחוד האמירויות.

שלי, הנחשב למקורבו של נתניהו, שימש כמנכ"ל משרד ראש הממשלה מתחילת שנת 2023 והיום המליצה ועדת המינויים של נציבות שירות המדינה לממשלה על מינויו לתפקיד החשוב, בעיצומה של המלחמה הרב-זירתית.

המינוי המשמעותי עבור מדינת ישראל יובא בקרוב לאישור הממשלה.

שלי יחליף בתפקידו את השגריר הראשון של ישראל באיחוד האמירויות, אמיר חייק, שמונה על ידי שר החוץ לשעבר יאיר לפיד בעת כהונתו. יצוין כי בחודש האחרון עד למינויו של יוסי שלי, התקן לא אוייש.

במסגרת תפקידו, אמיר חייק - לשעבר נשיא התאחדות המלונות בישראל, היה ממובילי הביתן הישראלי ב-Expo 2020, תערוכת הענק הבינלאומית שנערכה בדובאי ב-2021 (באיחור בשל הקורונה). במסגרת תפקידו חיזק את הקשרים המדיניים כמו גם את התעשייתיים והתרבותיים בין המדינות.

בין היתר קיים קשרים אישיים ענפים ופוריים עבור ישראל עם שגריר איחוד האמירויות בישראל, מקבילו מוחמד מחמוד אל-חאג'ה שעדיין משמש בתפקידו.
