ארגון הבריאות העולמי הכריז על מצב חירום גלובלי

ההכרזה נועדה בעיקר כדי לסייע להתמודדות של מדינות בעלות מערכת בריאות חלשה עם התפשטות הנגיף. גם בישראל הוכרזו צעדי חירום, כולל איסור טיסות מסין ובידוד של נוסעים שהגיעו מסין

ההתפרצות המתמשכת של נגיף הקורונה היא מצב חירום בריאות עולמי, קבע היום ארגון הבריאות העולמי, World Health Organisation, בתום ישיבה מיוחדת. התפשטות הנגיף הגיעה כמעט לשני תריסר מדינות, פגעה ביותר מ-8,000 אנשים ומשפיעה באופן דרמטי על הנסיעות והעסקים בכל רחבי העולם. "הסיבה העיקרית היא לא בגלל מה שקורה בסין, אלא בגלל מה שקורה במדינות אחרות," אמר טדרוס אדנום, מנכ"ל ארגון הבריאות העולמי, במסיבת עיתונאים שהתקיימה היום. "הדאגה הגדולה ביותר שלנו היא הפוטנציאל של הנגיף להתפשט למדינות רבות עם מערכות בריאות חלשות יותר, אשר אינן מוכנות להתמודד איתו". ארגון הבריאות העולמי מגדיר מצב חירום עולמי כ"אירוע יוצא דופן, אשר עלול להוות סיכון לבריאות הציבור במדינות שונות באמצעות התפשטות מחלות ודורש תגובה בינלאומית מתואמת". הכרזת מצב חירום עולמי מעניקה למנכ"ל ארגון הבריאות העולמי את האפשרות להציע המלצות למניעת התפשטותה של מחלה, כמו ייעוץ או הגבלות על נסיעות, ולאפשר בדיקה של אמצעי בריאות הציבור במדינות הפגועות. גם בישראל הוכרזו היום אמצעים ייחודיים למאבק בנגיף. שר הבריאות הכריז על איסור מוחלט של טיסות מסין לישראל, ומנכ"ל הבריאות הורה על אמצעי זהירות ייחודיים, הכוללים בידוד מוחלט של נוסעים המגיעים מסין.
