מהי המדינה עם זינוק התיירות הגדול בעולם ב-2017?

ארגון התיירות של האו"ם, UNWTO, הכתיר את מצרים כמדינת התיירות הצומחת במהירות הגדולה ביותר בשנה שעברה, לאחר גידול של יותר מ-55% - 8.5 מיליון תיירים - לעומת 2016. למרות ההתאוששות, מצרים עדיין רחוקה מהשיא של 14.7 מיליון תיירים בשנת 2010

כידוע, מצרים סבלה בשנים האחרונות מהידרדרות דרמטית בתיירות הנכנסת בעקבות המהפכה בשנת 2011. שנה לפני כן מצרים נהנתה משיא של 14.7 מיליון תיירים, רובם ממערב אירופה, והכנסה של 9 מיליארד דולר מהתיירות הנכנסת. בכל השנים האחרונות מספר התיירים הבינלאומיים ירד משמעותית עקב המהומות ואי היציבות במדינה, ובשנתיים האחרונות ממשלת מצרים החלה להפעיל תכנית שיקום מקיפה, לעודד ולסבסד את התיירות, ואכן התוצאות ניכרות. בשנה שעברה הגיעו למצרים 8.5 מיליון תיירים, גידול מרשים במיוחד של 55.1% בהשוואה לשנת 2016, הישג שזיכה את מצרים בתואר 'מדינת התיירות הצומחת במהירות הגדולה ביותר' מטעם ארגון התיירות של האו"ם, UNWTO. התאוששות ענף התיירות במצרים נמשכת גם השנה, ובמחצית הראשונה של 2018 ביקרו במדינה כ-5 מיליון תיירים, גידול של 41% לעומת התקופה המקבילה אשתקד, ועפ"י הערכה רשמית, ההכנסה מהתיירות הנכנסת מסתכמת ב-4.8 מיליארד דולר בחצי שנה. יעדי התיירות הבולטים במצרים הן הערים גיזה ולוקסור, אך גם לאתרי הנופש לחופי הים האדום, המוכרים לנו היטב, תרומה משמעותית לשיקום התיירות הבינלאומית במצרים. עפ"י סטטיסטיקה רשמית, בחודש יולי בילו כ-506,000 תיירים באתרי הנופש ובמלונות בחופים והתפוסה הממוצעת בבתי המלון עמדה על 74%.
