הקרב על שארם א-שייח': חברות התעופה הישראליות - אל על, ארקיע וישראייר - מעוניינות להתחיל להפעיל טיסות ישירות לעיר שבדרום חצי האי סיני בסוף פברואר-תחילת מארס, אך הביטחון הישראלי לא שש לתת את האישור המיוחל וספק אם בכלל

חברות התעופה הישראליות - אל על, ארקיע וישראייר - סימנו את שארם א-שייח' שבמצרים כיעד אטרקטיבי לנופש הישראלי: גם קרוב, גם זול וגם מלונות ברמה טובה. בקיצור, כל הסיבות לחופשה אטרקטיבית. החברות מבקשות להתחיל ולהפעיל את קו הטיסות הישיר אל העיר שבדרום חצי האי סיני כבר בסוף חודש פברואר- תחילת חודש מארס 2022, אך הן מנועות בגלל שעדיין לא קיבלו את אישור גורמי הביטחון. בשלב זה אין אישור לטוס לשארם א-שייח' כפי שאין אישור לטוס לבחריין או לטורקיה. הגורמים הרלבנטיים מטפלים בנושא המורכב והלא פשוט על היבטיו הרבים. יצוין כי אם חברות התעופה הישראליות לא יקבלו את האישור לטוס אל היעד, ספק אם יינתן אישור, בניגוד ליעדים אחרים, לשכר זר להפעיל את הטיסות בגלל ההיבט הביטחוני.
