לראשונה באל על מונה לתפקיד מנהל החברה בצפון אמריקה, מנהל מקומי שאינו ישראלי. המשמעות היא: יורם אלגרבלי, שניהל בהצלחה גדולה את סניף אל על בצפון אמריקה, חוזר לארץ אחרי 5 שנים בתפקיד.

את מקומו יתפוס האמריקני, מארק קווליר. אלגרבלי 56, עובד כ-30 שנה באל על. לפני השליחות האחרונה בארה"ב, ניהל את מגזר מערב אירופה של אל על והתגורר בפאריס.

בתפקידו בארה"ב טרום הקורונה, העמיק את הקשר עם גורמים עסקיים, עם הקהילות השונות והיה מעורב בפתיחת נתיבים החדשים של החברה: למיאמי, סן פרנסיסקו ולאס וגאס. בנוסף, הוביל את ההכנות לפתיחת הקו לשיקאגו שבשל נגיף הקורונה לא נפתח בסופו של דבר. בתקופתו, החברה עברה להפעלת 2 טיסות יומיות מניוארק ו-4 טיסות יומיות משדה״ת ע"ש קנדי JFK. בתחילת משבר הקורונה, אלגרבלי סייע בחילוץ 2,000 סטודנטים אמריקנים שנתקעו בישראל בחזרה לארה"ב. כעת, כאמור אל על משנה מדיניות ואסטרטגיה וממנה לראשונה לתפקיד זה מנהל מקומי שאינו ישראלי.

קווליר, שימש בשנים האחרונות בתפקידי מפתח בתחום התעופה. בין השאר, עבד בחברות פיג'י איירווייז, באות' אפריקן איירווייז, ספיריט איירליינס ו-CRYSTAL LUXURY AIR.
